With the race to make the top four and the semi-finals hotting up, the Kukri Midlands Rugby League produced another exciting set of results. Northampton Demons A played their part in a weekend club double over local rivals Bedford Tigers A, chalking up a 30-16 victory. Sleaford Spartans dominated Dronfield Drifters in a 54-28 encounter at the Lincolnshire sides base to give them an unbeaten record. On Sunday North Derbyshire Chargers stretched their advantage over fellow play-off contenders Nottingham Outlaws B at Mount St Mary's, the game ending 50-6. All teams competing in the league have just two weekends remaining to play six games to qualify for the play-offs, with the top four taking part.
In the Under 16s competition the title race is on, with Birmingham Bulldogs nervously watching the results as they had their bye weekend. The title will certainly go down to the wire, with next week's clash between the Bulldogs and NEW Ravens almost certainly being the title decider. NEW Ravens visit to North Derbyshire Chargers saw them maintain their impressive record with a 0-64. Northampton Patriots had happier hunting than their younger namesakes at Telford, with a 16-20 victory which puts them in contention for a play-off berth, whilst sister-club Northampton Knights profited from Derby City's inability to raise a team, being awarded 24-0.
Telford Raiders left nobody in any doubt of their intentions for the 2010 season after a record 101 unanswered points were scored against Northampton Patriots in the Under 14s competition. The win secures them the minor premiership, with no other teams able to catch their 100% record. Derby City will wait nervously for the conclusion of Northampton Knights fixture list to see if they have secured second place, although their 50-22 victory over the Knights has given them the best chance. Nottingham Outlaws 52-22 victory over Coventry Bears sees them slide into fourth place, a position they will hope to retain in the final weeks of the season. NEW Ravens collected their first win of the season at long distance visit North Derbyshire Chargers in a 12-26 encounter that saw them battle back from 6-4 down at half time.
An Under 11s and 12s Festival took place at Birmingham Bulldogs.
