Reg Player Dev Centre

What are the Regional Player Development Centres?

The Regional Player Developmetn Centres (RPDCs) are part of the RFL's performance pathway to help raise coaching and playing standards nationally.

The RPDC's run from September to May on Saturday mornings in the East (Loughborough College & University) and West Midlands (Alan Higgs Centre Coventry), and have 108 young athletes and 18 coaches involved from across the two regions.

Players will enter a performance programme where they receive monitored coaching aimed at improving technical and tactical knowledge and core skills. Strength and conditioning is also an integral part of the programme with players working on movement skills and core strength, essential attributes for Rugby League.

Who are the RPDCs for?

The RPDC's operate at Under 14's, 15's and 16's with players who play at Community Clubs or schools in the region.

Each age group has 36 players.

Players living in the West Midlands will access the Alan Higgs centre in Coventry and players living in the East Midlands will access Loughborough College and University.

How do players access the RPDC?

The Talent Team work closely with community coaches to identify players who possess the attributes to play and develop in the RPDC environment.

Players who have been identified will be invited to an assessment day to select the 36 players at each age group.

If selected players must show commitment, competence and most importantly the right attitude to remain on the programme.
